SonoroSempre - our amazing range of rewarding instruments
The SonoroSempre range consists of two main suppliers where they are masters of all levels from Entry Level right up to Soloist advanced players, who are open to playing on new instruments that they initiate and make it their own, the first to play and tone it in. As customers support grows, we have further excellent makers we can bring in to expand the range. GDfV&A continues to explore good instrument makers to the benefit of out valued customers.
The SonoroSempre range is broken down into these models:-
Stratifie – most cost effective well made spruce veneer on laminate linden ply wood range of Violins, Violas and Cellos giving those with a tighter budget a real chance to pick up and play an RTP (Ready To Play) instrument.
Perfect for youth groups, ICKP’s, academies, colleges, string ensembles without breaking the bank. A great model range to achieve so much for so little outlay. Please refer to our separate Stratifie pricelist, found on this page and also on the Downloads Tab under Youth Groups, ICKP's, etc. to see how 10 instrument outfits will be costing you around £1400. (6 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos).
Etudiant – the schools classic instruments fully made and set up RTP with seasoned spruce and maple, usually sold as outfits but instruments only too.
This range is particularly aimed at teachers, school music hubs and academies also for adult players learning late or trying another instrument. But the E4, EVA2 & EC2 (Violin, Viola & Cello) Etudiant entry-level models don't stop at glossy quality varnish finish only.
The Etudiant E4, EVA2, EC2 range not only offers a high standard gloss resilient surface but goes much further and always with carbon fibre tailpiece, ebony fingerboard, pegs and chin rest. The strings, although 'factory fitted' are very well balanced producing effortless warm tones, hard to find at this 'Entry Level'
The E5, EVA2 & EC3 German (mustard) early C20 'look' colour shade in a matt sheen. An instant new and refreshing colour shade giving players real choices!
The E7, EVA3 & EC3 Japanese hand rub finish, after varnishing, to give a higher quality appearance in a sheen and its own colour identity.
The E8, EVA4 & EC4 have increased aged tonewood making this model upper entry level that’s highly rewarding and beautiful in appearance getting the student very close to the Intermediate level. A perfect violin for those who want their instrument to take them a long way up the grades and one that rewards with a wider sound colour palette level from a string change as you experiment with strings and tones.

Intermediaire – the intermediate range is where we offer three maker’s instruments increasing the options to the players, parents and orgs. EIN1 through to EIN6, LZS, DL models, again across all instruments. They represent a big jump up in striking appearance both on the finely grained spruce to the maple sides and the display of flames on the back, but of course in their tones.
A clever and rewarding range that will take a student far up the grades as would be expected. Each of these three makers' instruments are still distinctly different in appearance from the colour shades, finish, tailpiece selection and ebony parts. Once again this gives the player a great choice in this category.
Avance – Advanced models starts to cover beautiful standard varnish finishes showing the aged tonewoods used to clever understated antiqued appearance especially created for that model giving great options to the players.
These instruments will be at surprisingly reasonable pricing, project great tonal colours and stability on more demanding pieces and be a real investment in all respects.
Progressif – Orchestra/Soloist models made by three different makers and have antiqued finishes displaying brilliant maple flames and grains. Here the attention to an under-stated antiqued finish goes further.
Each of these Progressif models has some interpretation of a period instrument and a prescence of high craftsmanship. A sincere promise from these looks and finishes to match the amazing colours of tone when bowed producing their respective response, power and projection.
Maitre Maestro – This soloist range is made be dedicated start to finish luthiers offering amazing value to accomplished players looking to find a real option rather than going along down the period violin route and some of the hazards this can entail.
Clearly a new master luthier instrument represents a one of a kind to the player who will tone it in from virgin tonewood construction to make it their own! We can offer quick repairs to all detachable parts of your instrument (our simple repair guide charts shows where we can help shown in the link above) We include:-
- Peg adjustment if they are too tight or slipping and adjustment security under tension.
- Fingerboard and nut sanding out defects and safe height distance for strings going over the nut grooves providing correct safe action height. We find string indentations over years of playing on the ebony fingerboard, nut cleaning and clearing for secure alignment, high spots evened out to the scoop shaping.
- Bridge – adjustment for forward curl, thickness and playing action height and correct positioning.
- Replacement of the bridge, new one fitted.
- Tailpiece – replace alloy tailpieces, noisy, rattly tailpieces with carbon fibre ones. Spare integral screws.
- Gut wire replacement also fine tuners if preferred, depending on the peg end.
- Saddle and button check, realign tailpiece along the instruments length position
- Sound post – reposition, refit if fallen, balance the four strings across the bridge on open string playing, achieve better even tones to the string pitch and pick up or lightness of response to the bow.
- Good clean up and polish of the body, neck, fingerboard self colour and scroll and bow stick and frog serviced.
Major 'surgery' repairs - taking instruments apart, re-aligning neck elevation, under plating serious cracks, scroll pegbox re-boring and peg re-fitting, bassbar re-fitting, blocks, etc.. we will get a professional fully trained luthier to provide their best price for the work and time required. If you like to have the instrument serviced from GDfV&A all under one roof, so you do nothing and await the fixed, resolved and pleasing results, we provide you with a realistic quotation for you to decide to go ahead.
